Yaskawa VFD Technology For Industries Across the Board

Mike Jeffries | April 8, 2019

In the smart age of Industrial 4.0, variable frequency drive (VFD) yaskawa drivetechnology increases productivity in industries across the board while providing unsurpassed energy efficiency and significant increases in motor and system uptime as well as operating life cycles. Precise control of motor speed and torque, soft-starting to reduce mechanical stresses induced by full voltage starts, and energy savings which provide an immediate return on investment make VFDs an essential upgrade for plants competing in the competitive and demanding business environments of Industrial 4.0.

At Mader Electric we've been keeping businesses up to speed with the latest motor and control technologies since 1983. We've partnered with Yaskawa America, the world's largest manufacturer of adjustable AC frequency drives and motion control products including VFDs, servo amplifiers, servo motors, and machine controllers to ensure those plant operators in the Sarasota, Florida region have full access to the benefits of state-of-the-art motor control technology. To achieve that goal we've made technical training classes available at the Mader Electric Training Facility which focuses on the installation, troubleshooting, and repair of Yaskawa AC drives.

In this post, we'll take a look at the advantages and versatility of the Yaskawa line of VFDs for controlling everything from simple fans and pumps to complex plant machines.

Yaskawa Industrial AC Drives

Yaskawa's line of general purpose industrial drives introduces an innovative combination of power, easy integration, versatility, and performance. The general purpose line includes the following Yaskawa drives:
GA 800- Variable speed, precision control, and exceptional torque performance for the 3/4 to 600 HP range.
A1000- For 3/4 to 1000 HP applications featuring network communications, feedback, and expandable I/O. A-1000 versatility makes it the one-stop solution for new installations and retrofit upgrades. The A-1000 Configured package is designed for tough industrial environments available in NEMA 1, NEMA 12, or NEMA 3R enclosures.

U1000 Industrial Matrix Drive- For the 5-800 HP range, the U1000 is the all-in-one solution for ultra-low harmonics and full regeneration for power quality and optimized energy savings.

G7- This is the only low voltage drive available with 3 level control architecture for 1/2 to 500 HP applications. Minimize drive-induced problems from long motor cables and premature bearing failure for successful problem-free upgrades. The G7 is also available in either a NEMA 12, UL Type 1, IP22 or IP54 enclosure.
The Yaskawa lineup above can provide the full-function, variable speed control for any automation application required at your industrial plant. Installation is effortless with high-resolution displays. Advanced network communications and functional safety are enhanced by convenient connections to mobile phones.

The Benefits of Yaskawa VFD Upgrades

VFDs have become the "go to" technology to achieve outstanding regulation while enhancing position control and torque production. Yaskawa's fast-acting voltage and current limiters assist efficient continuous drive operations in periods of high demand. Installation costs are reduced by eliminating the need for dynamic braking resistors with the High Slip Braking feature. Programmable embedded functions blocks with DriveworksEZ can eliminate separate controllers and add application flexibility. Kinetic Energy Braking even allows the drive to maintain control during momentary power loss. Configuration is seamless with DriveWizard software and Application Sets to keep your upgrade downtime to a minimum.
