ABB will continue to design, produce, and market the Baldor-Reliance line of electric motors as well as Dodge mechanical transmission products. Fifteen U.S. manufacturing locations will support ABB's U.S. business demands including IEC motors, large AC motors and generators, and mechanical power transmission.
What Will Change For Baldor Electric Customers?
As of March 1, the ABB brand will be seen on all of Baldor Electric Company's manufacturing, sales, and support facilities as well as on invoices, purchase orders, and box designs. Customers will have access to the same local manufacturing, inventory, and customer services locally.
The ABB/Baldor integration opens the door for Baldor customers to access global ABB support as well as ABB Ability™ digital technology. The Baldor website has already made the brand transition to ABB, offering an extensive line of motor and control products for a wide range of industries including:
- Aggregate & Cement
- Air Handling
- Chemical, Oil, & Gas
- Food, Beverage, & Pharmaceutical
- Paper & Forest
- Unit & Baggage Handling
- Water & Wastewater
ABB Electric Motors
ABB's extensive lineup of electric motors includes the Baldor-Reliance brand and more in all of the industrial application categories from general purpose single and 3 phase AC to severe duty, explosion-proof, and washdown duty motors. ABB also provides a complete line of grinder, buffer, and lathe motors as well as servo motors, DC, and gear motors.
Severe Duty Motors
ABB's severe duty line was developed with the premium construction needed to withstand the harshest industrial environments for applications in quarrying, oil well pumps, crushers, and any other operation where moisture, contamination, vibration and demanding duty cycles require extra motor protection to ensure exceptional performance and reliability.
ABB Digital Control Technology
ABB Ability allows customers to access real-time operations management tools by connecting with the Industrial Internet of Things. Industrial data is collected through sensors and devices and advanced software is deployed to monitor and control operational devices and processes either onsite or remotely. Processes can be simulated to predict efficiency, working with available ABB experts and engineers around the globe.
ABB operated the world's largest installed base of connected industrial devices, building their expertise on experience with 70 million digitally enabled devices, 70,000 digital control systems, and 6,000 enterprise-level software solutions.
ABB Ability™ System 800xA
The System 800xA is a DCS (distributed control system), but it's also an electrical control and safety system designed for maximum operator performance and engineering efficiency. The system was developed for larger complex capital projects such as those in the oil and gas industry which tend to be plagued by delays which cause them to be over budget. Traditional automation relies on hardwired and fieldbus I/O architecture which prevents control strategies from being completed early in the project.
System 800xA integrates systems to reduce engineering complexity and life-cycle costs, with technologies such as cloud-enabled engineering, hardware emulation for testing environments, and process simulation and virtualization for application tests to identify issues before startup. Flexible I/O solutions and an Ethernet network minimize rework needed for late changes.
